Producing high end, handcrafted synthesizers, Arturia caters to the discerning musician in search of exceptional quality, and playability.
This is why each Origin Keyboard unit is built in Germany and hand assembled in France.
In the tradition of the first analog synth manufacturers, each part is carefully tested and assembled with attention to detail in order to match the highest quality standards on the market. Each Origin Keyboard is then narrowly tested through 98 different quality control points, before being shipped out of our headquaters, with its serial number engraved in its plate.
Project contributors testimonials | | Frédéric Brun - Founder of Arturia and Origin's conceptorI have had the chance, over the last ten years, to meet with outstanding inventors and visionaries. Men like Bob Moog or Ikutaro Kakehashi built great products that are still inspiring and actual. They truly inspired our journey to create a machine that would proudly stand among their own creations. Along the course of the project, I could really feel that everyone had at heart the desire to bring another stone to the history of synthesizers, in the grand tradition of innovation and style. And that was exciting. Today we are building Origin with great attention to details. Every machine requires a great deal of technology and a lot of man power to look after it. We believe Origin is an inspiring instrument for musicians who are aiming to be inspired. | | | Axel Hartmann - Origin's Designer and Synth Creator When preparing for my exhibition "Synthesizer Design - made in Germany - 1989 to 2010", I asked Frederic to lend me one of the few Origin Keyboard prototypes. I had only five of my synthesizer designs on display, another one being my first synthesizer design "gambit", which was my final year project at university in '89 - my diploma. You can see the parallels in shape and ergonomics. With the Origin Keyboard, Arturia gave me the chance to transfer many of the futuristic ideas into a real, existing product.
Origin is a synthesizer with a strong focus on ergonomics and functionality, built inside a modern, classy housing. Besides its visual qualities, its sound is simply outstanding and competes well with some of the finest classic synthesizers that are sitting next to Origin in my collection. | | | Noritaka Ubukata - Origin's Lead Sound-DesignerDesigning sounds for Origin Keyboard has been a fantastic experience. To me, it was like being a kid in a candy shop. We were free do what we had always dreamt off : mixing modules from Moog, Sequential, ARP, or Roland ; adding innovative stuffs such as the Galaxy module or the 2D-Envelope; controlling with Ribbon, joystick, step sequencer,… And in the end, the sound is so warm and pure.
Years ago, Stevie Wonder called the YAMAHA GX-1 the "Dream MAchine". The GX-1 had someway a stack of two CS-80 and one monophonic synthesizer (probably same as SY-1). Origin, despite its much more compact look, is offering 10 times more than that. To me, it is the 21 Century Dream Machine. | | | Philippe Wicker - Origin's Project ManagerThe real challenge with this project was to turn a lot of technology into artistic possibilities. At some point, innovation is only there to allow emotions to express themselves. And the more technology you have, the more important it is to make sure it really serves creativity and emotion. We have had up to 10 people working on parallel on this project and we have had to face great challenges. But Origin is now out, in the hands of musicians, and, believe me, this is rewarding. | |
